Getting Ready to take off!

It is almost time to leave and I cannot wait! The semester is ending and thank goodness I have ZERO exams. However, I am definately not in the mood for "end-of-the-year" projects either. All I can think about is a week-and-a-half from now when I depart New Orleans for Madrid. I will be in Madrid and Portugal for ten days with a friend before heading to Paris to meet up with the Lyon program.

The Lyon program attracted me because I have always wanted to live in France for a period of time. I would have preferred a semester, but six weeks fits in with my schedule. The family program also interested me because I will become close and personal with the French culture.

Over the trip, I would like to augment my skills in the French language, specifically verbally. I feel that my vocabulary is good, but not broad. I am also looking foward to completely immersing myself in the culture of other countries for 2 1/2 months. After Lyon, I plan to travel to Greece, Austria, the Netherlands, Turkey and Great Britain...and maybe more! The entire summer will be exicting and nerve-wracking at the same time. When not with the Lyon program, I will be planning the trip by myself (for me and for others) which will definately test me.

Until Europe,
Sophie
